Players To Watch in the Upcoming 2017 NFL Season

The new season of the National Football League (NFL) starts in September. The excitement over the new season comes to no surprise as every American sports fan considers the NFL as one of the most popular sports leagues in the nation, plus the fact that the reigning Super Bowl LI champions, New England Patriots will be hosting the Kansas City Chiefs on opening day. But those aren’t just what makes the NFL so popular, since there always will be those looking for tips for fantasy league, NFL free picks, and others wanting to get a heads-up of the betting odds.

But instead of talking about the early contenders and possible team match-ups and traditional rivalries, what if we discuss the top players to watch in the upcoming season?

1 – Robert Griffin III

The former Cleveland Browns QB is currently a free agent after the team cut him last March. But it doesn’t mean he’s down and out for good. A 2011 Heisman trophy recipient himself, there is very little doubt he’s going to find himself a new home before the start of the season.

2 – Matt Ryan

Every NFL fan would agree that Ryan is one of the most popular players in the league these days. But then again, a huge chunk of that popularity is because of his team, the Atlanta Falcons’ epic choke against the reigning champs in the most recent Super Bowl. But if you’re to look at Ryan’s setback last season, it might very well be the reason why everyone should give him a closer look this season since he’ll return a hungrier and more desperate quarterback for one of the NFL’s best teams.

3 – Michael Thomas

Wide Receiver

After totaling 92 catches and 1,137 yards last season, the sky is the limit for Thomas in the upcoming season. Considering that the Saints are likely to boost their offense in the upcoming NFL season, it only means Thomas will be in for a bigger and more crucial role. The Ohio State University star had a promising NFL rookie season with the Saints when he broke franchise records for a rookie in several areas, including receiving yards, touchdowns, and receptions.

4 – Blake Bortles

Bortles is one of the younger quarterbacks in the league and he comes in with a lot of redeeming to do after a disappointing season last year. The good thing going for the third overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft is the fact that he is well-loved as the quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars; he just needs to learn how to be mature enough to carry the responsibility of leading his team this season.
